Michael J. Bayern
Michael J. Bayern is an attorney and managing member at Potter Bayern Law who advocates for individuals in personal injury and insurance matters as well as entrepreneurs and other small business owners. Michael has extensive litigation and courtroom experience representing individuals and businesses in legal disputes.
Prior to joining Potter Bayern Law, Michael worked at law firms representing clients in various civil matters and has experience in litigating and advising clients concerning complex insurance issues. He has defended insureds from claims involving auto accidents, slip and falls, defamation, construction defect, and wrongful death, among others. His knowledge gained in defending insurance companies and their insureds is invaluable in protecting your rights as an individual or business owner.
In his early career, Michael practiced as an Assistant Public Defender in Orlando, Florida. At the Public Defender's Office, Michael litigated many misdemeanor and felony cases and successfully conducted numerous jury trials for his clients. During this time, Michael also represented all patients in Baker Act hearings throughout Orange and Osceola Counties and assisted his clients by examining expert physicians that sought involuntary inpatient treatment.
Michael attended the Pennsylvania State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Crime, Law, and Justice and a minor in Sociology. He then went on to attend law school at the American University Washington College of Law, where he graduated cum laude. During law school, Michael served as Vice President for the Alternative Dispute Resolution Honor Society and was a national semi-finalist in the American Bar Association Arbitration Competition. Michael was recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2023 and 2024. The Rising Stars list recognizes no more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in each state.
In his spare time, Michael enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors. He also mentors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay.
